Del Mar Village Recognized as Model Commercial District

Del Mar is the 27th community in California to achieve the California Main Street status.

The Del Mar Village was designated a California Main Street community, recognizing local efforts to reinvigorate the economic health of Del Mar's historic downtown.

In a ceremony last week, the California Main Street Alliance presented the Del Mar Village Association with the official certification.

Communities recognized by the Main Street Alliance demonstrate proven success in creating economic vitality, a unique sense of place and a strong commitment to the community by all stakeholders.

Del Mar is the 27th community in California to achieve the California Main Street status. It joins Coronado, Encinitas, Oceanside, North Park, Ocean Beach and Vista in the San Diego area.

The designation is based on local organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.
