Taxpayers Overcharged in San Dieguito Union District Due to Error

The Carmel Valley News reported that county officials are aware of the overcharge and are working on a solution to the problem, including possible refunds.

Homeowners living in the San Dieguito Union High School District were overcharged on their latest property tax bills due to an error, the Carmel Valley News reported.

The newspaper reported the school district transmitted incorrect information to the county of San Diego, which resulted in a tax rate approximately 50% higher that the correct amount.

San Dieguito passed a $449 million facilities bond measure last November, necessitating higher taxes in the district this year.

The newspaper reported that county officials were working on a solution to the problem and were prepared to mail refund checks.
