Peters Criticizes Congressional Vote to Defund Obamacare

Peters noted that there are just ten days left before the federal government runs out of money. He urged Congress to focus on a long-term budget solution.

Rep. Scott Peters on Friday voted against a Republican-led resolution to maintain sequester cuts and defund 'Obamacare," calling it a "political gimmick" that won't pass the Senate.

“The proposal on the floor today was nothing more than a political gimmick,” the Democratic Congressman from La Jolla said in a statement.

“It maintains the sequester cuts, which are already hurting our military, gutting scientific research, and undermining necessary investments in infrastructure and education. Further, because it attempts to defund the Affordable Care Act, it has no chance of passing the Senate or being signed by the President.
