Be Beaming

Who doesn’t want to be beaming? I do! Admit it – you do, too, sister.

I know that a key component to being vibrant and beaming is what we put in our bodies. I’m not a perfect eater, but I strive for 95% healthy and 5% happy indulgences. That is how you lose weight, maintain weight and be healthy!

My 95% healthy means organic, non-GMO, vegan, raw, gluten-free and dairy-free. That’s what I STRIVE for – I don’t alway hit it perfectly, but that’s my ideal. I admit it – I eat cheese (it’s like crack!) once in a while and some sushi, too.

You can imagine my thrill when Beaming opened their B Bar in Del Mar!  It’s a juice bar (plus so much more) that also shares my same eating healthy principles. High five – love that!

I adore their Julius Beam which tastes just like a Dreamsicle. Remember those crazy popsicles that were orange sherbet on the outside and vanilla ice cream on the inside?  Yes, that how’s it tastes! This smoothie was named after the Orange Julius, but it’s a mucho healthier version because it contains only the good stuff .

I also am pretty much in deep, salacious love with the Sexy Mayan smoothie. It’s a spicy, choco dream – and it enhances your libido. How’s that for a win-win: chocolate and feeling frisky!

I was thrilled when the lovely folks at Beaming offered me a complimentary 1-Day Detox Cleanse to review. I jumped on that offer like Angelina on Brad Pitt. Yes, I’m in!

Now by way of background, I’m a big juicer (as in veggie juice, not steroids, silly). Each year I do a 1-week juice fast at the beginning of the year where I only drink green veggie juice.

Daily I drink green juice, too. Most of the time, I make my juice at home. My usual blend is cucumber, celery, romaine, kale, spinach, cilantro, lemon and ginger. Sometimes I toss in other veggies that I have around. I use a Champion juicer (everyone always asks), but I’d love a Breville at some point. My Champion is a champ and I got her on Craig’s List for $60 – bargain!

So I’m kind of a juice girl and was excited to try Beaming’s version.

Their 1-Day Cleanse is available each week on Monday – or you can pick it up on Sunday afternoon.

I picked up my cutely-packaged bag of goodies first thing on Monday morning (they open at 7am – what an awesome alternative to pumping your beautiful bod full of caffeine, sugar and fat via a fru-fru coffee bomb).  All this goodness below was in the bag  - plus a packet of Beaming’s own protein powder. It’s like pretty rainbow of healthy happiness!

Each bottle has a sticker on top so you know which juice to drink first – smart! First up was Beaming Green which includes cucumber, celery, spinach, parsley, lemon juice and mint. Yum! It wasn’t too much different than what I’m used to and I really liked it.

Around 11am I went for bottle #2 which was the Salad Spinner – and it was a beautiful, deep shade of red thanks to the beets. That juice contains carrot, beet, cucumber, celery, lime, romaine, apple, ginger and turmeric. Oh this was sweet and easy to drink. Kinda like healthy Kool-Aid! Nummm!

Because I’ve gone 7 days before drinking only juice, I knew that a 1-Day Detox would be a breeze. I wasn’t worried about being hungry at all. The truth is that your body not only tolerates, but it actually needs a break from your regular eating.

Kris Carr, who is my hero, says the key benefit of juicing is that your body can easily pull the vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients straight into your blood because it doesn’t have to work to digest the fiber that’s removed during juicing, Plus, it gives your digestive system a break so your body can focus on repairing cells.

Back to the cleanse. Just around noon, my stomach roared a gigantic growl. But the funny thing was that I didn’t feel hungry. Not one teeny-tiny bit.

But I was dying to try the Protein Bite, so I busted it out. It reminded me of the Raw Balls that I make from the Kind Diet Book by Alicia Silverstone. This one had way more superfood ingredients though: coconut flour, almond butter, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, Beaming Protein, lucuma, gogi berries and coconut sugar. It tasted rich and decadent – like a treat.

Around 3 pm, I busted out juice #3 which was Fennel Love. I’ve juiced just about everything myself, but not fennel so I was so excited to try this one. It was good and I was happy that the fennel didn’t have an overpowering flavor. Y’know how fennel has that black licorice taste? It was very subtle and really interesting mixed in with the cucumber, celery, ginger, lime and apple. Good stuff!

I was thrilled to know that on this cleanse, I had a salad waiting for me. So I wasn’t stressing about making it through the evening without eating – because I didn’t have to!

At dinner time, I was super stoked for the Kale Salad! The salad was huge – I ate most of it around 6 and then finished the rest of it off later that night.

I like to have a glass of wine – or two – after dinner, but I had juice #4 in a fancy glass instead. This one was the Beaming Zing with e3live: cucumber, celery, kale, apple, e3Live, e3Renew, lime, ginger, Himalayan pink salt. The e3 ingredients are a combo of superfoods. While I didn’t dislike this, it wasn’t my favorite. I liked the first green juice, Beaming Green, the best!

Before bed, I had the 5th and final bottle. I had no idea this was going to blow my mind and have me obsessing and lusting after it for days. This was the Sweet Almond Milk. Oh sweet, sweet darling almond milk!

I have a little bit of regular old almond milk almost daily as a splash in my tea, but that is nothing compared to this sweet nectar. It rocked my world! It’s made of their house-made almond milk, vanilla, dates, cinnamon and Himalayan sea salt.

It was so creamy and dreamy! The mild sweetness of the dates and the cinnamon in the creamy almond milk is a combination of delicious perfection. I’m telling you – I’m obsessed. You have to try this.

So all in all, I can enthusiastically recommend Beaming’s 1-Day Detox Cleanse. It’s entirely nourishing – not depriving at all. And that’s really the point. With this cleanse, you load your precious body up with tons of beneficial nutrients. You’re not denying what your body needs. This isn’t a cleanse where you’ll feel like you’re starving and going without. Honestly, it’s just the opposite.

It’s perfect if:

- You had a crazy week of overindulging

- You want to give your body a mega-dose of vitamins and minerals

- You’re kick-starting a healthy eating initiative

I would do this again in a heart beat – even if I had to pay for it myself. I only recommend things here I truly believe in. Beaming does it right. They also have a 3 and a 4-day cleanse that I hope to try soon.
