Caltrans will host a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the city of Encinitas Community and Senior Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.

Editor's Note: The following announcement was released by the California Department of Transportation.

San Diego residents interested in learning more about the development of the Interstate 5 North Coast Corridor (I-5 NCC) project are invited to a public meeting hosted by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The meeting is on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the city of Encinitas Community and Senior Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.

The meeting will provide additional information on lagoon studies that were not final during the circulation of the I-5 NCC Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) in 2010.

During the open house meeting the public will review maps and diagrams that are part of the I-5NCC Supplemental Draft EIR/EIS. Caltrans design engineers, environmental planners, and other project staff will be available to discuss community concerns.  This document acknowledges Caltrans’ Locally Preferred Alternative (8+4 with buffer). The I-5 NCC Project proposes improvements to the highway through the incorporated coastal cities of northern San Diego County from the city of San Diego to the city of Oceanside.

I am very disappointed that this important even is scheduled for the same time slot as this week's very important City Council Meeting. Certainly, I am not the only Encinitas citizen who would have liked to attend both of these important events.
Could Caltrans provide alternative events in North County where Encinitas residents can get more information about the new information about I-5?
