North Torrey Pines Road will be shut down for both days this weekend for rehabilitation work on the North Torrey Pines Bridge, the city of Del Mar announced Wednesday.
The closure between the Torrey Pines State Beach parking lot and Carmel Valley Road will be in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, according to Joe Bride, the city's deputy director of public works.
Southbound traffic will be diverted onto Carmel Valley Road, while northbound vehicles will be directed to Genesee Avenue in San Diego, Bride said.
He said pedestrians and bicyclists can bypass the closure by using the beach parking lot. Pedestrians are discouraged from crossing the train tracks in the area. The bridge is in the midst of a seismic retrofit project.
