Live from Del Mar: Nirvana!

A 39-minute audio clip of Nirvana performing at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in 1991 earned it our YouTube Clip of the Week honor.

It will be 19 years next week since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain died in Seattle, the birthplace of grunge. However, for Nirvana fans the music continues to live on.

The same year the band released its second album, Nevermind, it played the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Dec. 28, 1991. The live recording of this concert at the Pat O'Brien Pavilion is Del Mar-Carmel Valley Patch's YouTube Clip of the Week.

Nirvana played 12 songs in 39 minutes, including Come As You Are, Polly and Lithium. Another three songs recorded at this concert—Smells Like Teen Spirit, Aneurysm and Drain You—made it to Nirvana's live record From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah.
