Ruth's Chris Del Mar Shares Ruth's Recipe for Sweet Potato Casserole

Include a Ruth's Chris favorite to your Thanksgiving dinner this year with this easy to make recipe for Sweet Potato Casserole.

It’s time to prepare for your Thanksgiving feast and Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Del Mar has you covered, whether you are dining out or cooking at home.

You can relax and leave the cooking to them this year and feast on the special 3-course Thanksgiving dinner menu, $35.95 per adult and $12.95 for children. Starters include your choice of seafood gumbo soup, Caesar salad or house salad. A main course filled with all the Thanksgiving classics will be served and include slow-roasted sliced turkey breast with homemade gravy, Ruth’s sausage and herb stuffing and cranberry relish. Pair your main course with your choice of a side dish of garlic mashed potatoes, brown sugar topped sweet potato casserole, green beans with roasted garlic, or creamed spinach. To top it all off, enjoy a duo of pumpkin cheesecake and vanilla ice cream.

Like any good Thanksgiving dinner, you will be able to enjoy the leftovers the next day. Each adult who orders from the Thanksgiving menu will leave with a complimentary “Thanksgiving Take Home Bag” with all the fixings to make delicious next-day turkey sandwiches.

Ruth’s Sweet Potato Casserole 

Serves 4

Crust Mixture:

  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ¾ cup chopped nuts (pecans preferred)
  • ¼ cup melted butter 

Sweet Potato Mixture:

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • ¼ cup butter 

Procedure: Combine crust mixture in mixing bowl and put to one side. Combine sweet potato mixture ingredients in a mixing bowl in the order listed and combine thoroughly. Pour sweet potato mixture into buttered baking dish. Sprinkle crust mixture evenly onto surface of sweet potato mixture. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 F. Allow to set for at least 30 minutes before serving.
