Reggae Fest Featuring Ziggy Marley Coming to Del Mar

Ziggy Marley will headline the Reggae Fest at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on August 31. This is the final concert of the season.

The son of the late great Bob Marley will headline the Reggae Fest on Saturday, August 31 in Del Mar.

While comparisons to his famous father are inevitable, Ziggy Marley has distinguished himself apart from his family legacy. He started performing with his siblings as The Melody Makers, eventually making his way as a solo artist recording hits such as True to Myself, People Get Ready and Tomorrow People.

Marley will headline the Reggae Fest during the races at Del Mar on Saturday, August 31.

The Reggae Fest, free with racetrack admission, should bring a more exotic and laid back vibe to the races.

Reggae music came out of Jamaica in the late 1960s, influenced by ska and rocksteady as well as traditional African and Rhythm and Blues beats. Stylistically it features a steady beat and a symmetrical rhythmic pattern.

  • Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd  Del Mar, CA 92014.
  • When: Saturday, August 31 (after the last race).
  • Price: Free with racetrack admission or if you arrive AFTER the last race, tickets are $20.
  • Parking: Concert Parking is $20. Racetrack parking before the final race is run is $10.
