Miss Cougar Del Mar Crowned; It's Not All About the Ponies at Races

Debra Olson of Eureka was chosen by a panel of celebrity judges from five finalists and 12 contestants.

A beautiful blonde from Eureka was crowned Miss Cougar Del Mar at the racetrack on Friday. The pageant, in its fifth year, celebrates the mature women on the prowl in Del Mar and the Cougar II Handicap on the racetrack.

This year's winner was Debra Olson from Eureka.

Olson was chosen by a panel of celebrity judges from five finalists and 12 contestants. All contestants were 35 years old or older and all submitted photos and a one-sentence explanation of why they should be Miss Cougar Del Mar.

Judges were Marlo Jordan from CougarLife.com, a dating website for older women and younger men, Mighty 1090 and U-T TV personality Scott Kaplan and Billy Koch, the general manager of Little Red Feather Racing.

The Cougar II Handicap is Del Mar's longest stakes race.
