Dance Away to Steel Pulse (Free Concert) in Del Mar

The Del Mar Concert Series during the races includes performances by Steel Pulse, Weezer and Ziggy Marley.

Written By Kyle Lundberg

The roots reggae band Steel Pulse will bring their unique message and musical style to the Del Mar racetrack on Friday, August 16.

Hailing from Birmingham, England, the group is the rare non-Jamaican act to win a Grammy for best reggae album. In existence since 1975, it’s also been around longer than most reggae bands.

Roots reggae is a subgenre that thematically deals with themes of everyday life. There is also an emphasis on Rastafarian spirituality, as well as black pride and social issues.
