Calling all craft lovers! The Del Mar-Leucadia branch of the American Association of University Women will host its first “Boutique Mystique,” a showcase of unique handcrafted items from nearly 20 local artisans on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for students at Mira Costa College and California State University San Marcos, as well as local girls attending the Tech Trek camp at UC San Diego. Tech Trek, an AAUW-California program, is a science and math camp designed to develop interest, excitement and self-confidence in young women.
“[Boutique Mystique] is something new for our AAUW branch and should be a lot of fun,” AAUW member Bobbi Karnes said. “Almost 20 artisans will be showcasing items.”
Among the items that will be available for purchase include jewelry, hats, antiques, sculptures, scarves, linens, gift items and hand-blown garden glass items. Several books by award winning children’s book author and AAUW member Edith Fine will also be available for purchase. A silent auction will also be held for select items.
The inaugural Boutique Mystique will take place in the Asian Garden at the private home of AAUW member Barbara Jenkins-Lee at 1327 La Sobrina Court, Solana Beach. Parking and entrance is on San Andres Drive. Only cash and check will be accepted for purchases. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the organization at 760-918-6806 or get more information online at aauwdelmar-leucadia.org.
