Actress Kathy Najimy to Headline Center for Community Solutions' 15th Annual Tea and Tonic Event

Center for Community Solutions (CCS), a non-profit agency that offers a complete range of sexual assault, domestic violence, and elder abuse prevention and intervention services, announced that its annual “Tea & Tonic” event will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Grand Del Mar Resort. The benefit event sponsored by Nordstrom, TJX Companies Inc., HD Supply Facilities Maintenance and the California Endowment, is being held in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

CCS welcomes Kathy Najimy as the celebrity keynote speaker. Kathy is best known for her hilarious comedy in over 20 films, including the blockbusters Sister Act and Sister Act 2. As the Ms. Magazine Woman of the Year, she has been called a "social action hero." Always on the frontlines of progressive social causes, she is driven by her own desire to see all living things treated equally. According to Ms. Najimy, "First and foremost, I'm a feminist. And basically that stems from a strong belief that all people and creatures deserve equal opportunity, rights, and respect." A dynamic force and inspiration to anyone who believes in making a difference, Ms. Najimy has been a vocal supporter of women's rights.

As 2014 marks two anniversary milestones for Center for Community Solutions: 45 years of service to the San Diego community and the 15th year of our Tea fundraising event, “Tea & Tonic is also a celebration of our valued sponsors, committed volunteers, business & community leaders across San Diego who continue to support our mission,” according to executive director Verna Griffin-Tabor.

Event Chairs, Cyndi Benson & Terri Kelly, long-time supporters and volunteers of CCS, invite you to join us for an unforgettable & meaningful “high tea,” followed by an after party, “Tonic After Tea” which is a new addition this year, and will feature cigar rolling, tequila tasting, “Read My Lips” lipstick print reading & other celebratory surprises.

“Tea & Tonic” also offers CCS an outstanding platform from which to raise overall awareness of and much-needed funds for all its various types of assistance. Net proceeds from the event will be used toward CCS’ full range of domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention programs, including emergency response teams, a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelters, victim advocacy, transitional housing programs, court accompaniment, clinical services and legal services.
Tickets for the 2014 “Tea & Tonic” start at $150 per person with table sponsorships available starting at $1,750. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ccssd.org. For more information, contact CCS at 858-272-5777, ext. 151.
