Whole Foods Puts Finishing Touches on New Del Mar Store

Whole Foods Market Del Mar will open its doors to green shoppers on Feb. 27.

The countdown to Whole Foods Market Del Mar’s opening is just 19 days away. The natural and organic market will open its fourth location in Flower Hill Promenade at 2600 Via De La Valle later this month.

“There is a lot of energy and buzz in this area,” said store manager Marc Bird. “And we are happy to be a part of it.”

Whole Foods (NASDAQ: WFM) is scheduled to open its 30,000 square foot grocery store in Del Mar on Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. with a formal “grand opening” celebration the following month.

Whole foods will stay true to the local food movement and stock Archi’s Acres, Be Wise Ranch, Carlsbad Aquafarm, Fallbrook Winery, Homegrown Meats, Sage Mountain Farms, San Diego Seafood Harvesters, Stehly Farms Organics, Suzie’s and Tarantino Gourmet Sausage Co. products.

Whole Foods management is most excited about Trifecta Tavern, a fast-casual restaurant and bar inside Whole Foods Market Del Mar with a rotating selection of craft beers on tap, wine and food menu.

“Whole Foods Market has such a loyal and growing customer base in the San Diego area, we wanted to bring the Del Mar community their own store,” said Whole Foods Market regional president Patrick Bradley in announcement. “Whether you stop in to enjoy a glass of wine after shopping, work in the area and want to grab a delicious meal-to-go or are just passing through town looking for delicious lunch in our Trifecta Tavern—this will be a great destination.”

Insiders at Whole Foods said the store’s interior was designed with touches from the Torrey Pines natural landscape and local horse culture.

“We wanted to design a store with unique features that reflect the Del Mar lifestyle,” Bird said without elaborating.

We will just need to wait until Feb. 27 to see. For more information in the meanwhile, follow Whole Foods Market Del Mar on Facebook.
